1. a person or thing that oscillates.
2. a device which converts direct current into alternating current of a particular frequency. The oscillator in a radio transmitting apparatus is a vacuum tube which produces the carrier wave for a radio signal. »

It is also proposed to use a number of electric oscillators to provide acceleration (A. W. Haslett).
